AI Voice Generator: Free vs Paid Plans

What a free AI voice plan gives you versus a paid one — credits, voices, clip length, commercial use and billing — with MCV Labs' plans as the example.

Almost every AI voice generator has a free option. The useful question isn't “is it free?” but “what can I actually do with it, and when do I need to pay?”. Here's how to compare plans, using MCV Labs' own plans as the example.

What a free plan is for

A free plan is for trying voices and making personal audio. On MCV Labs the Free plan includes 2,000 credits a month (added after you verify your email), the Natural and Standard voices, up to 1,000 characters per clip, MP3 downloads and no card. It's for personal use only.

Signs you need a paid plan

  • You publish for a business, a client or monetised channels — that needs commercial use.
  • You want premium voices, or a language that needs them, such as Telugu.
  • Your scripts are longer than the free per-clip limit.
  • You regularly run out of monthly credits.
  • You need WAV files for editing.

Comparing paid plans

Compare three things: monthly credits (and whether premium voices have their own allowance), the longest clip you can generate at once, and the usage rights. On MCV Labs, Starter adds commercial use, premium voices and longer clips; Creator, Pro and Business & API add more credits, longer clips, WAV and more simultaneous jobs. Current prices and limits are always on the pricing page.

Read the billing terms

Check whether a plan renews automatically and what happens to unused credits. MCV Labs plans are prepaid for one month or one year and never renew automatically; unused monthly credits don't roll over, while credit packs last until their validity date. If a generation fails, its credits are returned.

Annual billing costs less than twelve monthly payments, but start monthly if you're not sure how much you'll use.

A simple way to decide

  1. Start on the Free plan and make a few real pieces.
  2. Note how many credits a typical script uses — the studio shows it before you generate.
  3. Multiply by how often you publish.
  4. Pick the smallest paid plan that covers that, with some headroom.
